FAQs

What can I expect in my first session?

1

Your first session is 50 minutes long and focused on getting to know you. We’ll talk about what brings you to therapy, what you’re hoping for, and how I can best support you. You don’t need to prepare anything. You’re welcome exactly as you are.

Do you offer a free consultation?

2

Yes! I offer a 20-minute free virtual consultation. This is a chance to ask questions, share what you’re looking for, and see if we’re a good fit before committing to ongoing therapy.

How often do I need to come to therapy?

3

Most people find that weekly sessions provide the best consistency and momentum. Depending on your needs and availability, we may shift to biweekly or a different rhythm over time. We’ll decide together what works best for you.

I do not accept insurance. However, I can provide a superbill for possible out-of-network reimbursement. CPT codes will be required and shown on your superbill for possible reimbursement through your insurance company.

I utilize the following CPT codes primarily:

90837: 60 minute individual therapy

90847: 60 minute family therapy with identified patient present

99354: 30 minute or more add-on for 90 minute sessions paired with one of the above CPT codes.

These will be reflected on your superbills paired with the dates of service.

Do you take insurance?

Do you offer sliding scale rates?

5

Yes. My full rate is $180 for individuals and $225 for families, but I reserve a limited number of sliding scale spots for those with financial need. I believe therapy should be accessible and will do my best to work with you.

Do you write gender-affirming care letters?

6

Yes. I provide letters of recommendation for gender-affirming medical care (hormones, surgeries, etc.). At least one session is required so I can learn about your journey and ensure the letter reflects your needs and experiences.

Yes, I work with both adolescents (age 14+) and adults. For teens, I balance honoring their confidentiality with keeping parents/caregivers appropriately informed.

7

Do you see teens?

What if I’m nervous about starting therapy?

8

That’s completely normal. Beginning therapy can feel vulnerable, especially if you’ve had invalidating experiences in the past. My role is to create a space where you feel affirmed, safe, and never judged. You set the pace. We move as slowly or as quickly as feels right for you.

What is your cancellation policy?

9

I ask for 24 hours notice if you need to cancel or reschedule an appointment. Late cancellations or no-shows may be charged the full session fee. Life happens, I just ask for as much communication as possible.

What issues do you specialize in?

10

My top specialties are Transgender care, LGBTQ+ identities, and Anxiety, but I also support clients navigating depression, trauma, family conflict, life transitions, open relationships/non-monogamy, racial identity, and more. You can see a full list of my areas of expertise on the About page.

If you have a question that’s not answered here, please reach out. I’m happy to talk through details before you commit to therapy.
